May 4, 2008 Pot Luck Social

More than 100 Westbank Democrats treated themselves to a feast and an extended discussion with State Representative Donna Howard at the May 4 Pot Luck Social at Wild Basin . Representative Howard spoke about the challenges facing the state and the importance of ensuring that vigorous Democratic participation and values are included as we grapple with those challenges. The audience discussed the fact that the balance in the Texas House of Representatives is at stake and that important offices including the United States Senator from Texas are within reach of Democratic candidates this November.

Precinct 317 party chair Marvin Hecker urged the crowd to unite behind the Democratic candidates regardless of who wins the party’s presidential nomination. He also discussed up-coming Westbank Democrats activities, including a candidate forum before the November election and a “Westbank Democrats Deliver…” yard signs and bumper stickers program to blanket the Westbank for Democratic candidates in the late-summer and fall. January 27, 2008 Candidate Forum

More than twenty Democratic candidates addressed a crowded house of Westbankers at a candidate forum sponsored by Westbank Democrats on Sunday, Jan. 27. Candidates present included United States Congressman Lloyd Doggett, State Representatives Donna Howard and Valinda Bolton, Third Court of Appeals Chief Justice candidate Woodie Jones, three candidates for Travis County District Attorney, the Travis County Sheriff, two candidates for Travis County Democratic Party Chair, and a host of judicial candidates.

Westbank Democrats is the collective organization for the eight Westbank Democratic precinct organizations. The candidate forum was emceed by Precinct 317 (Lost Creek) party chair Marvin Hecker and held at the home of Kerry & Dixie McGrath. Kerry is Precinct 347 (Bee Caves Woods/Treemont/Woodhaven) party chair.

Westbank Democrats are planning a "Westbank Democrats Deliver..." yard signs and bumper-stickers campaign for the late-summer and fall and another candidate forum before the November general election.
